As a window gallery, FENTSTER is one of the only open galleries in Canada during the coronavirus crisis. 

Visit the exhibition, What Will Remain, day or night from the safety of the sidewalk and join us on Facebook for an engaging livestream conversation between artist Robert Davidovitz and FENTSTER curator Evelyn Tauben moderated by esteemed international scholar and Toronto native, New York’s Dr. Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett, Ronald S. Lauder Chief Curator, Core Exhibition at POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, in Warsaw. The virtual vernissage will feature a live performance by the lead singer of the New York-based band Yiddish Princess, Sarah Gordon, of "Ver Vet Blaybn", the Yiddish poem by Avrom Sutzkever that inspired the exhibition title.

Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett is the Ronald S. Lauder Chief Curator of the Core Exhibition at POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews and University Professor Emerita and Professor Emerita of Performance Studies at New York University. Her books include Destination Culture: Tourism, Museums, and Heritage; Image before My Eyes: A Photographic History of Jewish Life in Poland, 1864–1939 (with Lucjan Dobroszycki); and They Called Me Mayer July: Painted Memories of a Jewish Childhood in Poland Before the Holocaust (with Mayer Kirshenblatt). She received the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She currently serves on Advisory Boards for Jewish museums in Vienna, Berlin, and Moscow and advises on museum and exhibition projects in the United States, Lithuania, Albania, and Israel.

Sarah Mina Gordon is a fourth generation Yiddish singer. She fronted the rock band Yiddish Princess and has recorded and performed with Frank London, The Klezmatics, Daniel Kahn, Sharabi and others. Daughter of legendary Yiddish singer Adrienne Cooper(z’l), Sarah grew up immersed in innovative Yiddish culture and has collaborated with Michael Winograd, Frank London, Alicia Svigals, and The Klezmatics to pen original Yiddish songs. Sarah is also an educator – teaching third grade and designing and leading Yiddish programs for children and adults. She is one of the founding organizers of Yiddish New York and teaches song at Klez Kanada.
